Despite his young age, he has an exceptional work ethic, a real eye for quality and has developed into an outstanding fryer. He understands our vision and takes genuine pride in helping us achieve it every day.

After attending the National Fish & Chip Awards with us, he came back even more motivated, with a real enthusiasm to learn, improve and build a career in fish and chips. How long have you worked at Monster Fish & Chips Co.?

I started in March 2025 part-time. My sister worked at the chippy already and asked if I wanted a job. I left my other job and came full-time in May 2025. I started out serving customers and preparing orders, and gradually worked my way onto the fryer.

What are your responsibilities?

A wide range of responsibilities including frying, serving, till, cleaning, keeping up standards, training other staff, ordering and rotas. I’ve started taking on more management responsibilities recently, which has been a huge learning curve, but I really enjoy it.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Definitely frying! But also meeting and speaking to such a wide range of people who visit the village and come into the chippy.

What’s your least favourite part of the job?

I absolutely hate preparing the chicken when it’s raw. I hate the texture and smell, and I’m very conscious of cross-contamination!

What is it that you like about working at Monster Fish & Chips Co.?

We’re like one big family. We have great banter and it makes the job easier and more fun.
