The National Fish and Chip Awards has announced the 20 finalists in its Takeaway of the Year category.

The successful takeaways are:

  • Whiteheads Fish and Chips Ltd
  • Chips @ No.8
  • Olley’s Fish Experience
  • Ship Deck
  • Fisherman’s Bay
  • The Bearded Sailor
  • The Fish Bank
  • Low’s Traditional Fish & Chip Shop
  • French’s Fish Shop
  • The Oyster Shell
  • Pier Point Fish & Chips
  • Henley’s of Wivenhoe
  • Lewis’s Fish and Grill
  • Mike’s Traditional Fish & Chips
  • Auckley Friery
  • The Fish Works

The top 20 takeaways were selected from a shortlist of 40 shops by a panel of 10 judges from across the industry, and now go on to face more scrutiny in further rounds, which include a mystery dine.

Commenting on the news, Andrew Crook, president at the NFFF, said: “We received such a high standard of applications this year for this category in particular, making it a very difficult yet rewarding judging process.

“The top 20 really demonstrate a strong commitment to the fish and chip industry and to the British public, so we’re thrilled to see so many shortlisted from across the country. Congratulations to everyone involved, this is a massive achievement in itself!”

The National Fish & Chip Awards will take place on the 28th of February 2023 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London.
