Independent hospitality businesses across the UK are set to take centre stage during a new campaign next month organised by the Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS).
Called Independent Hospitality Week, the campaign runs from 6th to 21st May and aims to celebrate the resilience, adaptability, and indispensable contributions of independent hospitality businesses to local economies and communities.
Alan Fox at NCASS, says: ”We want to remind both businesses and communities of the invaluable role that independent hospitality establishments play.
”These businesses are the backbone of our high streets, driving innovation, diversity, and forward-thinking in the hospitality industry. But they need our support now more than ever.”
According to recent statistics, there are approximately 140,000 independent hospitality businesses in the UK, comprising an impressive 70% of all hospitality businesses nationwide. These businesses not only form the majority but also serve as the foundation for growth and innovation in the industry.
Throughout Independent Hospitality Week, participating businesses are invited to engage with their customers in creative ways, from producing videos to offering special menus that highlight their distinctive flavours and experiences

As they continue to navigate uncertain times, let’s show our unwavering support and appreciation.”
