Seafood supplier Amity Fish Company has been awarded a Great Taste star by the Guild of Fine Foods for the third year in a row for its Panko Breaded Single Wholetail Scampi.
In a welcome surprise, the award also earns Amity Fish Company ‘Great Taste Producer Status’, a title only bestowed upon entries winning stars three consecutive years in a row.
The Peterhead-based business was awarded its first star in 2021 with judges adoring the “sweet and plump” scampi.
Great Taste is the largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for fine food and drink. Each year thousands of products are subjected to a thorough blind taste-test by a selection of chefs, buyers, fine food retailers, restaurateurs, food critics and writers with those being awarded a Great Taste 1-star rating deemed ‘simply delicious’ in the eyes of the judges.
On winning for a third consecutive year, Amity managing director Jimmy Buchan said: “Picking up a third Great Taste award for our signature Panko breaded Scampi is testament that the product is making an impact on judges. We are thrilled to receive this latest award, which is a story of pride and success from sea to plate and is reflected in the response of our customers to this product.”
