How did you get into the industry?
On a whim! We have another business (completely unrelated in the motor industry) in the same industrial estate and in the large village we are in. There was no takeaway food so we thought, why not give it a go?
What’s your favourite food?
Italian, especially arancini balls – yummy!
Is there a food you won’t eat?
Anything offal related. It’s just wrong to eat those parts of the animal!
Where have you had the best fish and chips?Â
From my own shop of course! Lovely fresh cod with perfectly hot, freshly cooked salty and vinegary chips.
What side is a must with your fish and chips?
Mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce. We make our own tartare sauce and it just works with our lovely crispy battered cod and salt and vinegar chips!
If you could open a fish and chip shop anywhere, where would it be?
Somewhere by the sea, maybe Devon, Cornwall or the Isle of Wight. There is a lot of fresh seafood around and, of course, all the holiday-makers too.
Do you have a favourite restaurant?Â
Yes, Chesters in Worcester. They serve delicious, fresh Mexican food and it has a diverse menu and really nice owners. We have never had a bad meal there.
What is your go-to drink?Â
Desperados lager, it goes with everything (or on its own!).
What dish reminds you most of your childhood?Â
Roast dinners – my mum cooks a mean roast.
What is your guilty food pleasure?Â
Anything sweet. I have a massive sweet tooth. We do battered Mars bars at my shop to satisfy it!
What one piece of equipment would you love to purchase for your business?Â
We are going to be relaunching our selection of handmade pizzas soon and I would love a large dough mixer and press.
