Catch to open fourth site with new-build in South Lanarkshire

Catch Fish & Chips is opening a new site on the outskirts of Glasgow in the Burnside area of South Lanarkshire.

It is a new area for the Glasgow-based operator, which already has sites in Giffnock, Netherlee and West End, and the first new-build project it has undertaken having received planning permission to develop a derelict site of a former petrol station. It will make way for a modern 40-cover restaurant and takeaway, offering click and collect thanks to a car park with eight spaces, and deliveries.

Work is scheduled to start on site number four in January 2023 with plans to have it open by the summer. It will bring around 20 new jobs to the local area.

Own Giancarlo Celino told Fry Magazine: “It’s exciting to have a new-build but what really appealed to me was the location, it’s a really good family area, which is really where our brand works, and it’s on a really busy main thoroughfare.”

While the menu is set to follow the same format as the three existing shops, with a few new additions tailored to the market, the boats, anchors and nets that adorn the walls and ceilings will not feature, making way for a more modern, quick-service feel. As well as table service, customers will be able to order and pay at the counter or at the table via an app.

Giancarlo adds: “We are all really excited and we’re looking forward to serving the best fish and chips we can to more people. We do the chips every day ourselves, our batter is handmade to a secret recipe, the oil is very well managed so the quality of the product is as high as possible, so we won’t be changing anything really!”
