Best Fish and Chip Shop

A Hampshire MP has launched a competition to find the best fish and chip shop in her constituency.

Caroline Nokes, conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North, has been asking locals to vote for their favourite chippy based on the quality of the food, friendly service or the role they play in the community. The winner will be announced on Friday 5th June, National Fish & Chip Day.

Caroline said: “Fish and chips are a much-loved British tradition, and our local chippies remain at the heart of communities across the constituency. Many are family-run businesses that have faced significant challenges in recent years, from rising energy and food costs to increases in employment costs.

“To celebrate National Fish and Chip Day and recognise the hard work of these local businesses, I am inviting residents to nominate their favourite fish and chip shop.

“Whether it is the quality of the food, friendly service, or the important role they play in your community, I would love to hear which chippy gets your vote.”

Nominations close on Sunday 31st May and residents have already taken to Facebook to debate their favourites, with shops including Tony’s Frying Machine, Caught and Gramo all getting several mentions.
