Alder Hey Challenge

Staff at food and beverage company Aimia Foods for Professionals have raised £43,228.77 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital through a range of activities including hikes, bake offs and sponsored walks.

The pinnacle of the charity champaign was its Three Peaks Challenge, a 24 mile hike with a total elevation of 1585m, which raised over £25,000 to fund an enhanced bedhead, a TV, a reclining chair, a high-spec paediatric bed and a fully accessible ensuite WC with a ceiling hoist. The money also financed a colourful animal mural, painted by Alder Hey’s in-house artist, Lucy Casson, which extended the child-friendly forest floor theme in the hospital’s welcome area.

Other fundraising events in 2025 included bake offs at Aimia Foods for Professional’s office, as well as a 22km walk from Aimia HQ in Haydock to the front doors of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Aimia Foods for Professionals has supported Alder Hey since 2023 when it launched its ‘Big Four’ fundraising series, consisting of trekking up Snowdon, a Cyclathon at Aimia Foods for Professionals’ head office, the annual Alder Hey Oli’s Safari Walk and a climatic half marathon walking challenge. Amassing a total of £26,000 in donations, this helped Alder Hey refurbish family rooms in the hospital’s critical care unit and allowed them to install a Sensory Voyager designed to alleviate stress and anxiety for young patients.

Michelle Younger, marketing director at Aimia Foods for Professionals, celebrated the brand’s fundraising total for 2025, saying: “At Aimia Foods for Professionals, we strive to support our local community wherever we can, and our close relationship with Alder Hey is just one example of this.

” To be a part of Alder Hey’s journey is special to us, especially given their close locality, and we love to see the impact of our fundraising endeavours.

“This is an incredible achievement, and I am so proud of everyone who got involved. Whether it was whipping up a batch of brownies for one of our cake sales, cheering on colleagues completing the Three Peaks Challenge or actually taking part in this themselves, I am humbled by the amount we have raised for Alder Hey.”
