Chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay has opened his fourth fish and chip restaurant in the States with a 35-seater diner and takeaway in New York’s bustling Times Square.

The site follows in the footsteps of ventures in Las Vegas, Washington D.C. and Orlando.

Described as a fast-casual, British-style eatery, the New York site offers a modern twist on classic fish and chips, with customers given the choice of cod, shrimp and chicken “combos” served with chips and a choice of two sauces for between $14.99 and $17.99.

Chips are served salted as well as dirty – loaded with either jalapeño, chorizo and cheese or truffle, parmesan and chives. A choice of six sauces is available including tartare, curry and mango and sriracha aioli.

In a nod to classic British dishes, there is also a Fishwich, crispy cod wrapped in a warm naan bread, and a sticky toffee shake for dessert.

Guests enter the restaurant via a red telephone box door where they are presented with Union Jack-painted walls, red seating and floor-to-ceiling windows giving views of Times Square.

In an official statement, Ramsay said: ”New York City is one of the greatest cities in the world, the energy is unmatched, and I’m thrilled to be bringing fish and chips here.

“Fish and chips is a taste of home to me, and we’ve found a way to elevate that classic dish, dress it up and really modernize the experience for diners.”
