Stokes Sauces has taken another major step in its environmental journey with the introduction of fully recyclable packaging across its entire sachet range, significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

The new packaging is manufactured using a film that can be recycled at supermarkets in the same way crisp packets and bags from bread and fruit can. This brings the sachet range in line with Stokes’ 485g plastic bottles, which are already fully recyclable, ensuring all products across the brand are eco-friendly and supporting the company’s zero landfill policy.

As part of the upgrade, the sachets also feature Stokes’ refreshed branding and new logo. Despite the external changes, Stokes has reassured customers that the sauce inside is unchanged as is the portion size at a generous 40g/32ml.

Rick Sheepshanks, managing director of Stokes Sauces, said: “It has been a tough journey and has taken a number of years to get to launch, but it has been worth it to support our environmental drive to deliver a ‘zero landfill’ policy.”

The company’s sustainability efforts have also been recognised with a Gold Carbon Charter Award, the highest level possible. This accreditation is awarded following an independent audit assessing all key environmental aspects of a business, including carbon reduction policies, action plans and total carbon footprint.

Rick adds: “This is such a wonderful accolade. We have, once again, been awarded the coveted Gold Carbon Charter, an accreditation of Stokes’ commitment to the environment.”

Reducing the company’s carbon footprint and achieving zero landfill is a goal shared across every level of the business. Stokes has cut landfill dramatically through improved packaging and recycling processes as well as transitioning its vehicle fleet to fully electric. Next, it is preparing to install new manufacturing equipment designed to further lower carbon emissions.

The company has also recently invested in a third sachet line, which will double capacity to keep up with a growing demand.

Stokes offers a wide range of premium sauces including its Real Tomato Ketchup, Real Mayonnaise, Tartare Sauce and Real Brown Sauce. The range is available in formats to suit all areas of businesses including glass bottles and jars, squeezy bottles, catering tubs and recyclable sachets.
