As well as a number of headline sponsors, this year’s National Fish & Chip Day on Friday 2nd June has the support of industry suppliers Seafood from Norway, T. Quality, Blakemans and Frymax
National Fish & Chip Day is not just a feel-good day, but also a chance to say thank you to the fish and chip industry, which is facing enormous challenges with price rises and supply chain issues but still goes all-out to feed communities this iconic family favourite.
The day wouldn’t have the reach or impact that it does without the support of its sponsors, so here is a little bit of information about each of the four key sponsors and why they are getting involved.
Seafood From Norway
Norway is a proud supplier of responsibly sourced cod and haddock to UK fish and chip operators. Seafood From Norway sees National Fish & Chip Day as an important opportunity to celebrate its longstanding relationship and the nation’s favourite dish.
It will be collaborating with shops around the UK to encourage the industry to offer sustainable menu options and to position seafood as a wholesome protein choice that is good for the people and the planet. For shops wanting help telling the story behind the dish they serve, a selection of free and easy to use resources are available as part of its Fish & Tips campaign. These can be accessed via its website by clicking here.
T.Quality
Fish and chip shop wholesaler T.Quality has supported the day ever since its inception, saying it puts a spotlight on the industry instead of it just being another day in the calendar. It wants to encourage all shops to help raise awareness of the day and stresses that shops do not have to run offers but simply make customers and the wider public aware of the day and encourage them to eat fish and chips.
Representatives will be on hand to offer support at NEODA events up and down the country, while all of its 12 depots have National Fish and Chip Day posters available for shops wishing to promote the day.
Blakemans
Blakemans, one of the industry’s leading sausage suppliers, has also sponsored National Fish & Chip Day for a number of years now and considers it to be an important celebration of a driven and community-minded sector.
Phil Blakeman, managing director, said: “We like to do what we can to give back to an incredibly hard-working industry that has provided us with their loyal custom for decades. We have a lot to thank the lovely people of the fish and chip and fast food industries for. The national dish and those who lovingly prepare and serve it work tirelessly and have proven repeatedly to be the pillar of many communities throughout the UK. It seems only fitting that they have this annual celebration, and we are honoured to be able to play a small part in this fitting tribute.”
Frymax
Also on board again this year is 100% natural and sustainable palm oil supplier Frymax, a popular choice of frying medium for over 65 years. Andrew Marriott, Frymax UK brand and marketing manager, comments: “It is again honoured to be one of the sponsors of National Fish & Chip Day which celebrates the UK’s classic and traditional takeaway.”
