TV personality Matt Baker MBE is to host the National Fish & Chip Awards 2025.
BAFTA award winner Matt is best known for presenting TV shows such as the BBC’s The One Show, Blue Peter and Countryfile, and more recently Channel 4’s Our Farm in The Dales, Travels with Mum and Dad. He is also a big champion of sustainable farming growing up on an organic farm owned by his family in the Northeast of England.
The choice of presenter is a break from the usual line up, which in the past has comprised comedians, but organiser The NFFF believes Matt’s TV credentials and passion for the natural world makes him “the right man for the job”.
Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), says: “We’re thrilled to have Matt on board, his approach to his work really aligns with our own within the fish and chip industry.
“Sustainability and the environment are key focuses for us this year, and with the support of our main sponsor, Seafood from Norway, our aim is to push the message that it is possible to invest in more long-term sustainable practices whilst creating more cost-effective approaches to operations. We are extremely confident that Matt will do an excellent job of harnessing this ethos on the night and coupled with his natural ability to relate to any audience, he will be very popular with our guests on the night.”
The National Fish & Chip Awards take place on 26th February at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London. Tickets are available at: https://thefishandchipawards.com/event-tickets/.
