A popular London fish and chip restaurant is marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday 8th May with a tasty tribute.
Mayfair Chippy will donate £1 to the Royal British Legion for every Mayfair Classic dish sold at its Mayfair and Knightsbridge locations. This includes cod or haddock, chips, mushy peas, tartare and chip shop curry sauce or HP gravy.
Alongside this, The Mayfair Chippy Knightsbridge will also launch an exclusive Monday-only dining offer for local pensioners, including Chelsea Pensioners from The Royal Hospital Chelsea. For £20, pensioners can dine on The Mayfair Classic with the choice of fish, vegetarian and vegan options alongside unlimited tea. For an additional £5, pensioners can add a pudding to their meal.
Mayfair Chippy co-founder Pete Taylor, says: “It’s nice to give back to our veterans who served our country proud.
“Fish and chips and VE Day are very patriotic and our promotion ties in nicely with both. Plus it’s a great opportunity to raise money for a really meaningful cause. We see the Chelsea Pensioners around these postcodes in London quite regularly as they are just around the corner, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to invite them in.”
