Jolly Friar in Alford, Lincolnshire, and Macaris Fish & Chips in Wemyss Bay, Firth of Clyde, have been named the winners of the Frymax Fry to the Max prize draw and will receive a personalised visit from a Frymax Ambassador.
The two winning fish and chip shops were randomly selected from the numerous entries received through Fry Magazine’s social media pages and e-mail entries. Jolly Friar will welcome Des Anastasiou, owner of Burton Road Chippy in Lincoln, while Macaris Fish & Chips will host Nigel Hodgson, owner of Hodgson’s Chippy in Lancaster.
The Fry to the Max prize draw is aimed at helping operators improve their businesses and maintain consistency. During their shop visits, Frymax Ambassadors will conduct comprehensive assessments that cover key areas, including preparation, portion control, customer service, oil management, and adapting to seasonal variations. They will offer practical advice, tips, and innovative ideas to improve efficiency, reduce costs and boost profitability. The ambassadors understand the daily challenges faced by chip shops and believe their insights can significantly improve a business’s chance of success.
Andrew Marriott, brand manager at Frymax, extended his congratulations to the winners: “We’re thrilled for both Jolly Friar and Macaris Fish & Chips. Our long-standing Frymax Ambassadors bring decades of experience in running and managing successful chip shops, and their expertise will be invaluable.”
Andrew emphasised the personalised approach of the visits: “Our ambassadors aren’t there to dictate how things should be done, but rather to assess each shop’s unique needs and customer base, then suggest tailored improvements. We’re eager to share updates on these visits and highlight how both operators have benefited.”
Thanking all shops that took part in the draw, he added: “It’s encouraging to see so many businesses willing to open their doors and their minds to the prospect of learning something new and taking their business to the next level.”
