Sustainable seafood supplier Marrfish has added the famous Colchester Pyefleet Oysters to its portfolio – and they don’t need shucking!
Low in fat and a rich source of protein, minerals and vitamins, Colchester Pyefleet Oysters are grown and harvested from centuries old oyster beds in Pyefleet Creek, Mersea Island in Essex.Â
The oysters undergo high pressure processing, which means they are guaranteed to be norovirus free, alleviating any concerns operators may have over food safety and raw oysters. The extreme pressure process also results in the oyster shell being pre-shucked, making handling a safer and quicker process. In addition, there is a reduction in wastage as the oysters are plumper and have a longer seven day shelf life.
Marrfish participates in the Fishing for Litter Scheme and the Responsible Fishing Scheme, and its boats are all MSC compliant.
