Staff from wholesalers Henry Colbeck, Friars Pride and V.A.Whitley are putting their best foot forward for the 10th anniversary of National Fish & Chip Day to raise money for charity.
Volunteers across The Q Partnership aim to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks – a 24-mile round trip route that includes 1,585m of ascent, consisting of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). In doing so, staff will be asking for sponsorship for three charities: The Fishermen’s Mission, Springhill Hospice in Rochdale, North-West, and the British Heart Foundation.
Rob Fernandes, marketing manager at V.A.Whitley, comments: “We are extremely proud and excited to be doing this challenge. V.A.Whitley along with our friends and colleagues across the Q Partnership are really wanting to raise the profile again of National Fish and Chip Day – celebrating the nation’s favourite dish. I would love to see a day where every shop wants to get involved – it’s a great opportunity for shops to showcase their great food! Hopefully we can also raise a lot of much needed funds for our chosen charities – something that is very important to each of our family-owned companies.”
Rebecca Lord, managing director, Friars Pride, adds: “The Yorkshire Three Peaks will definitely give us a challenge! Delicious fish and chips will be a well-earned and very welcome treat at the end of a long day!
“The challenge is a fantastic opportunity for team Friars Pride to highlight a momentous 10 years of National Fish & Chip Day alongside our friends at The Q Partnership as well as raise funds for three worthwhile charities. We hope you will be able to support us by celebrating National Fish & Chip Day on 6th June and make a donation to our chosen charities.”

Hook & Fish packaging is a headline sponsor of this year’s event alongside Middleton Foods.
