Four shops in Yorkshire are among the ten finalists that have successfully made it through to the last round of Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year 2024.
Completing the line up are two further shops from England as well as three from Wales and just one in Scotland. They are:
The Fish Works, Largs, Scotland
Yarm Road Fish and Chips, Darlington, County Durham
Lighthouse Fisheries of Flamborough, Bridlington, Yorkshire
Mister C’s, Selby, Yorkshire
The Fish Bank, Sherburn-in-Elmet, Yorkshire
Auckley Friery, Doncaster, Yorkshire
Marina Fish & Chips, Skegness, Lincolnshire
Finney’s Fish and Chips, Benllech, Wales
Ship Deck, Caerphilly, Wales
Zero Plus Fish & Chips, Cardiff, Wales
Examination of industry knowledge, eco credentials, employer responsibilities and more, saw the top 10 get this far. Now all that stands in the way of the winner being crowned is a final mystery visit.
Awards organiser and National Federation of Fish Friers president Andrew Crook, comments: “To be awarded Takeaway of the Year status by the fish and chip industry is something that many a chip shop business wants to attain. It’s not an easy thing to accomplish and we’re incredibly happy for, and proud of, these 10 brilliant finalists which are edging nearer to what will be a truly amazing outcome for one of them.”
Victoria Braathen, UK Director of the Norwegian Seafood Council and representative from awards sponsor Seafood from Norway, adds: “There’s some serious talent in this finalists’ line up for the Takeaway of the Year. We’re honoured to be supporting these awards which highlights the fantastic work that goes on behind the scenes to put great fish and chips on people’s tables across Britain.”
All 10 will be invited to the awards ceremony on 28th February 2024 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London.
