Transitioning to PanaEpos for its EPOS needs, Colmans Seafood Temple now has more efficient back and front-of-house operations

An EPOS system that is fast and efficient is imperative when you run a 110-seater restaurant like Colmans Seafood Temple in South Shields that turns its tables over four to five times a day and operates a busy takeaway. As is a reliable backup service for the odd occasion when things go wrong. 

When his previous EPOS provider let him down, owner Richard Ord Jnr turned to PanaEpos upon a friend’s recommendation and bought a comprehensive system, complete with terminals, handheld touchscreen devices and peripherals, all seamlessly integrated with ICR Touch software.

“It is so easy to change, add or remove products on the till, but it’s not even just that it is simple to edit, it is user-friendly for the staff,” says Richard. “We have a lot of staff on duty so it has got to be easy for them to use in order to minimise mistakes.”

As well as being simple to use, the new system is also efficient, which helps deliver speedy transactions. Richard adds: “When you’ve got hundreds of people coming through your door every day, your EPOS has to be efficient to use. You want to be able to put an order through and be on to the next one. It just wouldn’t work for us here if it was taking someone five to ten minutes to put an order through.”

Integrating with the Temple’s growing click and collect system, Richard says the new setup has improved business efficiency with real-time back-office recording of all sales data through the till and a full stock management and ordering system through the back office.

“If I am away, I can go online and find out what we have sold, when we have sold it and how much money we have taken. As a business owner, it’s great to have that on hand because you don’t want to disturb the team. Also, if a customer comes back with a problem, we have all the cheques on hand straight away so we know when they came in. Or if stock levels don’t tally up we can see where the problem lies.”

Despite all the essential features of the EPOS system, what sets PanaEpos apart for Richard is its after-sales support.
