Sarson’s pledge of support for the fish and chip industry continues with NFFF’s official Fish & Chip Guide launch
As rising costs threaten the future of fish and chip shops, Sarson’s UK is doubling down support for the industry, rallying consumers and operators alike in its ongoing campaign to help save this British institution.
The UK’s number one malt vinegar* has once again partnered with the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) to launch the Official Guide to the UK’s Quality Fish & Chip Shops 2022-2023 in its quest to encourage the nation to support and celebrate outstanding chippies during these challenging times.
The guide is an invaluable compendium containing each Quality Accredited outlet throughout the UK who uphold the NFFF’s exacting standards to achieve a Q award. With operators concerned the cost-of-living crisis is causing consumers to penny-pinch, the guide sets out to demonstrate the value in paying that little bit extra in ordering from your local fish and chip shop.
Bryan Carroll, deputy chief operating officer for Sarson’s said: “Fish and chip shops are facing a catch-22. Inflation and the challenges of sourcing certain ingredients leave operators with no choice but to increase the cost to their customers. With consumers understandably being more conscious of what they spend their money on, it’s imperative that we make a case for fish and chips in order for the industry to stay afloat.
“To be included in the guide, operators must go through a number of vigorous tests to obtain a Quality Accreditation. In what has been an unthinkably difficult few years, this demonstration of hard work and perseverance is more poignant than ever, and we hope this will translate to readers and compel consumers to do their part to help keep a cornerstone of their community open.
“Sarson’s endorsement of the QA Guide is part of its ongoing commitment to support fish and chip shops and the real value they bring to British life.”
Andrew Crook, NFFF president explains: “It’s fantastic to see so many shops recognised for demonstrating high standards in food hygiene and operational practices.
“It shows how professional the fish and chip industry is, and how dedicated the operators and their team are to creating a fantastic product.”
