Position: Apprentice

Nominated by: Owner of Harrison’s Fish & Chip Co. Ryan Harrison, who says: “For someone only 16 years old, Thea has shown great attitude and aptitude whilst working. It’s a pleasure to work alongside her and help develop and train her skills.”
 
How long have you worked at Harrison’s?
Just under one year. I e-mailed in while I was still at school as I was looking for a part-time job, and then once the school holidays started I moved on to full-time.

What are your responsibilities?
My responsibilities are helping open the shop, taking orders and packaging them up, and ensuring the customers are happy with what they receive. 
 
What’s your favourite part of the job?
The people and learning new things about cooking whilst being here.
 
What’s your least favourite part of the job?
Cleaning up at the end of the day because I know it will all be messy again at the end of the following day!

What do you like about working at Harrison’s?
The people. They are a great bunch and they make a fun working environment. Time goes by so quickly when it’s busy. 

How do you feel to be nominated as an Unsung Hero?
It feels great. I just try to do my best when I’m working and it’s nice to be recognised.
