Job title: Director
Age: 41
Nominated by: Eric Snaith, owner of Eric’s Fish & Chips, who says: “Henry is my right-hand man. I have relied on Henry 100% through our business growth. He’s calm, adaptable, friendly and brilliant with the staff and our customers. His experience and wisdom helped evacuate the restaurant when we had a fire last year. This is every restaurant owner’s nightmare but luckily Henry’s decisive and grounded approach meant it was dealt with sensibly and safely. You would be surprised, but whilst the fire engines were there, we had customers asking for refunds! Henry kept his cool. It’s not easy to find great people that are with you for such a long time and I have recently promoted Henry from manager to director in recognition of his loyalty, hard work and determination to build a strong business.”
How long have you worked at Eric’s Fish & Chips?
Seven years next month. Thornham is celebrating 10 years this Spring, so I’ve been here since the early days.
What are your responsibilities?

I also help develop and promote the business with new menu ideas and marketing initiatives and make sure our customers continue to love what we do and keep coming back for more.

It feels like a family. Eric and his wife Lydia have created a very happy environment for all of us and it’s a great team to be part of. How do you feel about being nominated as an Unsung Hero?
Surprised! I didn’t see it as doing anything exceptional but it’s amazing to be nominated.
