How long have you worked at Eric’s for?
I’ve worked at Eric’s Fish & Chips for three years. Before this, I trained and worked as a chef when I left school. I drifted away from the trade when I was 23 and after several ‘fill in’ jobs, became a civil servant. After doing that for 17 ears, I decided a change was needed. I drove a skip lorry for about a year before seeing an advert for kitchen staff at Eric’s in Thornham. I applied and after a trial was offered the job.
What are your responsibilities?
I am responsible for every aspect of preparation of all our menu items. We make everything from scratch from our own recipes.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
The teamwork and producing consistently high quality products for our customers.
What’s your least favourite part of the job?
Smelling of fried food when I leave!
What is it that you like about working at Eric’s?
The great work mates and the great sense of job satisfaction I get after every shift.
How do you feel about being nominated as an unsung hero?
Shocked! When my manager, Henry, was telling me about this, I honestly thought he was going to ask me who I would nominate.
