Birmingham-based wholesaler TCR Food Service has introduced a new tracking feature to its delivery vehicles, allowing shop owners to see exactly when their orders will arrive.
The company, which supplies fish and chip shops as well as cafés, mobile caterers and Chinese and Indian takeaways, claims to be the first in the industry to offer this real-time tracking service. This innovation helps business owners and staff plan their day more efficiently, ensuring they receive their deliveries at a certain time.
Founded in 1998 by Brian Matthews, TCR Food Service remains an independent, family-owned business, now managed with his son, James Matthews. The company operates 14 delivery vehicles, transporting both frozen, ambient and chilled goods from its central depot in Birmingham. With a product range of over 1,000 items, TCR Food Service serves customers across a wide delivery area, reaching Sheffield, Stoke-on-Trent, Shrewsbury, Gloucester, Bristol, South Wales, Oxford, Slough, Northampton and Norwich.

Orders can be placed online or via the telesales office from Monday to Friday. For added convenience, any additional products added to an existing order between 4pm and 11pm will be included in the next day’s delivery.
James Matthews, commercial manager at TCR Food Service, comments: “Our founding principles have always been quality, service, and reliability. We continue to focus on these while also investing in new features like our tracking devices to improve the customer experience. The tracking app is also helping us better achieve our carbon footprint goals, as we expect a 10-15% decrease in carbon emissions due to the route planning features within our new software. We have found more and more customers are willing to give us a wider delivery window now, knowing it can help our carbon footprint as well as save them countless hours by knowing exactly when their delivery will arrive, which then allows them to focus on other important tasks.”
