Deliveroo is aiming to capture the mid-week family meal market by partnering with restaurant brands to offer sharing meals priced £25 and under.
Family Dinneroo will see the delivery platform collaborate with more than 30 UK restaurant brands — including Pizza Express, Bill’s, Wagamama and Dishoom — to provide family-sized meals designed to be shared by four people. The initiative is positioned as a “convenient alternative for parents looking to reduce the mental and physical load of weekday family mealtimes”.
It’s the first time Deliveroo has worked with its partners to adapt menu formats and create dishes suitable for sharing. The company hopes the move will expand usage during the week.
The family-focused options will be available exclusively through the Deliveroo app between 4:30pm and 6:30pm Monday to Thursday, with customers able to schedule deliveries up to five days in advance. The offering will be rolled out over the coming months to 30 towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales — including Bath, Edinburgh, London and Nottingham — and will launch in Dublin at the end of the month.
Carlo Mocci, chief business officer at Deliveroo, said: “Restaurant delivery has traditionally been perceived as an indulgent treat, reserved for a Friday night or weekend. Many of our restaurant partners believe this isn’t the case, and that delivery can play a greater role during the week.
“Family Dinneroo offers a way for restaurants to unlock new meal occasions and new customer demand during off-peak hours.”
