Just Eat reports strong first half performance



Just Eat served 24 million customers worldwide with 104 million takeaways in the first half of 2018, according to figures published today.


The online food delivery platform saw orders jump 30% from 80.4 million with revenue rising 45% to £358.4 million. Profit before tax was down 3% to £48.1 million given costs associated with the acquisition of Hungryhouse.

In the UK, revenue was up 30%.
 
Peter Plumb, chief executive officer, comments: “Our increased investments in technology, brand and delivery are on track to make our service even easier to use, whilst expanding our customer’s choice. I’m pleased with the strong start to the year and excited by our opportunity to help many more people enjoy more of their takeaway moments through our platforms.”

Rockfish Brixham closed as suspected bomb found
