British families order 60 takeaways a year, says survey

Each year, the average British family will order 60 takeaways, according to a new study by Virgin Money Life Insurance.

The poll of 2,000 British families with children living at home also reveals how we each tuck into 66 roast dinners a year, use up 48 bottles of ketchup, make our way through 60 boxes of teabags and drink 220 pints of milk. Adults in the family will also consume 65 bottles of wine each year.

According to the report, British families have 452 arguments in an average year but share on average 1,435 hugs, 1,492 kisses, 972 fits of laughter.

The survey also showed that British families spend a staggering 489 hours watching the telly, 317 hours on social media and 48 minutes waiting for the kettle to boil.

Asked what change would most benefit their family life, four in ten said they would have more quality time together and 17% said they’d like to work less.
