Goddard’s “steaks” claim to seven pie awards

Kent-based Goddard’s Pies filled up at the British Pie Awards, walking away with seven medals including six silver and one bronze.

Its hand-made Steak & Kidney, Steak & Ale, Steak & Potato and Cheese Potato & Onion pies all took silver in their respective categories, while its Chicken & Ham pie scooped Bronze. It had two further winners in the Sports Pie category with its Steak & Ale and Chicken and Balti varieties both awarded silver.

This year saw a record number of 154 producers from across the UK who put forward over 900 pies.

Sean Horton, who co-owns the business with Jeff and Kane Goddard, says: “We are delighted that our hard work, skill and passion for creating delicious pies has been recognised with this fistful of awards.

“Goddard’s is a family-run and owned business with roots that go back to 1890. Just as they were when we started out, all our pies are still handmade, using only British ingredients, and family methods and techniques.

“Our range of meat and vegetarian pies and are perfect for catering businesses, wholesalers and sports stadiums who want to offer their customers that authentic pie shop taste.”
