Seafood supplier Unique Seafood is merging two of its depots with JJ Food Service, enabling the national wholesaler to bring a wider variety and a more competitively priced range of fish to UK fish and chip shops.
Unique Seafood Group, which first started supplying fish and chip shops with frozen at sea cod and haddock, and other frozen foods in 1997, will see its London and Southwest depots merged into the JJ distribution network.
Unique Seafood is one of the leading fish suppliers to more than 2,500 fish and chip chop customers in the UK, while JJ Food Service is a £182m foodservice specialist delivering from eight branches across the UK a wide range of foodservice outlets.
Managing director of JJ, Mustafa Kiamil, said, “Working with Unique Seafood will enable us to secure a consistent, reliable supply of high-quality, competitively-priced fish for our customers.”
Unique Seafood CEO Harald Nissen, said: “With eight UK branches and three more scheduled to open in 2016, JJ’s national coverage continues to grow. Combining their expertise in distribution with our knowledge of the fish market will benefit everyone involved.”
JJ Food Service first launched its range of products for the fish and chip market in 2015 and has continued to expand its range to cover the full shopping basket.
“This latest investment further demonstrates our intention to become a major player in the fish and chip market,” added Mustafa.
