Fish and chip shop owner Garry Rosser is returning to his roots as he embarks on a new venture in his hometown of Bath.
Garry, who opened The Scallop Shell
alongside a fresh fish counter and deli at White Row Farm in Frome, Somerset, three years ago, will be heading up this latest outlet, due to open the first week in November.
The Scallop Shell Fish & Chip and Seafood Grill will continue to have fish and chips at its heart but will also offer customers a grilled menu and roasted shellfish everyday alongside salads and vegetables.
The informal, café-style setting will include a takeaway as well as a 44 cover restaurant and will employ around ten new staff.
Located just outside of Bath town centre in Monmouth Place and on the approach to a residential area, it’s a dream come true for Garry.
He says: “I’ve always wanted to come back to Bath, it’s where I cheffed and lived for over 25 years, so it’s a great feeling to be opening up here. Although in time I hope we’ll develop a reputation that will attract the tourists, for me this is about being part of the community and serving the local people."
He adds: “I got into this industry three years ago and I’m loving it. There’s a real buzz at the moment and I’m very privileged to be part of it. I feel I can be myself when I’m cooking fish and chips.
"I’ve got some great people working for me who are buzzing too and if I can create more opportunities for those guys, then great.”
