Friers have just one week left to take equipment manufacturer Panasonic up on its Microwave Payback Project.
The initiative, which is designed to give something back to friers as well as the local community, sees Panasonic offer a £200 discount on its new NE-1856 commercial microwave oven, giving it a special price of just £499.
Friers’ old commercial microwave ovens, regardless of age or condition, are then collected, saving them the cost of disposal. Panasonic’s service partner Marren will refurbish any ovens that are fit for use and re-distribute them to FoodCycle, a community based project that aims to reduce food waste and food poverty, for use in its volunteer-run kitchens.
Iain Phillips, Panasonic sales and marketing manager for commercial catering equipment, comments: “We have been surprised at the take-up of this project and are delighted that it seems to have been wholly embraced by all involved. At this early stage it is hard to say how many ovens we will be able to donate to FoodCycle as we are yet to assess the condition of those being returned, but we are hoping it will be adequate enough to help them with their cause this winter.”
The offer is limited to the first 200 ovens sold and expires on Thursday 31st October.
