A round-up of the latest chilled catering equipment for fish and chip shops

Refrigeration is a vital part of any professional kitchen and when purchasing new equipment there are a number of factors fish and chip shops should put at the top of their wish list.

Manitowoc’s Peter Hunkemoeller explains further: “Friers should be considering the latest in space saving, robust designs and energy efficient technology to keep running costs to a minimum whilst ensuring the unit has the capacity to handle even the busiest of periods.”

If you’re on the look-out for a new fridge or freezer, chiller or display counter, why not consider these new product launches packed full of the latest innovations and energy saving features.

Chill out for less with Lec

Lec has unveiled a new value range of fridges and freezers that it says does not compromise on quality. The new essenChill incorporates many features normally associated with premium ranges of refrigeration, including the environmentally friendlier R600a refrigerant that helps deliver lower running costs, as well as a digital temperature controller for improved accuracy and performance.

Three sizes are available – the undercounter 200L and a 400L and 600L model. All three are available in white or stainless steel with prices starting at just over £400.

Curtains up for new sandwich chiller

Williams has launched a new sandwich chiller which features an innovative new ‘air curtain’ system to recycle cold air that is normally wasted in conventional designs.

Part of its Gem range for the Grab and Go sector, careful angling of the ‘curtain’ ensures that, once it has done its job, nearly all the cold air is recycled either into the cabinet, helping maintain temperature, or by being drawn through vents and grills to cool the refrigeration system itself and reduce energy consumption.

Other energy saving features include LED lighting and an integral night blind. In addition, the inclusion of an air wall means product can be loaded right up to the rear of the cabinet, with no gap, maximising display space with no risk of compromising food safety.
