Paper £10 notes to be withdrawn on 1st March

The Bank of England is advising fish and chip shops to prepare for the withdrawal of the paper £10 note after it was announced that 1st March 2018 will be the last day businesses can accept them.

It is encouraging shops to start returning paper £10 notes now and to check their note supply agreement with their bank to understand whether they will continue to accept paper £10 notes after this date.

It has also produced an A4 poster to support staff training on the withdrawal, which is available to download by clicking here or hard copies can be ordered online here.

The paper £10 note featuring Charles Darwin was issued on 7th November 2000. The new polymer £10 note was issued on 14th September 2017.
