A Cheltenham chippy is celebrating Burns Night with its customers by serving up deep-fried haggis patty with chips, gravy and a can of Irn Bru.
In a nod to the traditional Scottish celebrations of serving the haggis during a night of fun and laughter, Simpsons Fish & Chips has put its own twist on the delicacy by deep- frying it.
Co-founder of Simpsons Fish & Chips, Bonny Ritchie, said: “We wanted to create something for Burns Night that people haven’t seen before and are keen to try. We hope plenty of people will pop in to celebrate with us and tell us what they think of our new taste sensation. We’re so excited to see what people make of deep-fried haggis.”
Haggis is a traditional Scottish delicacy associated with Burns Night, however, the Simpsons haggis patty will be combined with mashed potato and ‘neeps’ and then battered in Simpsons’ signature batter until it is perfectly crisp.
The £6 meal will be available to eat in or takeaway on Burns Night only.
