York chippy says cheers to new canned craft ales

A Yorkshire micro-brewery is lifting the lid on its range of new canned craft ales, not in a pub or at a beer festival – but at a chippy.

Ainsty Ales Brewery, based in Acaster Malbis, York is partnering with nearby Scotts Fish and Chips for the launch of its brand new canned beer range – Ainsty Assassin, Cool Citra, Flummoxed Farmer and Killa Kiwi.

The event, which takes place next week, includes tasting the four canned ales followed by a beer-battered fish and chip supper with mushy peas, bread and butter, and a pot of tea or coffee, all for £10 per person.

Scotts Fish and Chips owner Tony Webster said: “We are delighted that Andy has chosen Scotts for his latest product launch.

“And, in addition to drinking the new beers, the customers will be able to eat it too as we are frying the fish in Ainsty Ales batter.

“What could be better than tucking into a plate of traditional Yorkshire fish and chips washed down by a glass of Yorkshire beer from Ainsty Ales? For me this is the perfect combination.”

Andy Herrington, founder of Ainsty Ales, adds: “I’m very keen to forge partnerships with local companies and, as Scotts has a similar ethos to ours, I thought it would make the perfect venue to officially launch our new range of canned ales.”
