FreeFrom Eating Out Awards return with chippy category



The 2017 FreeFrom Eating Out Awards are now open for entry and once again there is a category specifically for fish and chip shops.

Sponsored by Middleton Foods, it requires shops to offer a minimum of one gluten free day per week and assesses the quality of the menu as well as how much outlets understand about catering for allergic people and the lengths they go to to safeguard allergic/intolerant or coeliac guests.

From these entries, a panel of experts will select a shortlist of shops to receive an incognito visit designed to assess the quality of the food and ensure that the protocols described in the entry form are put into practice.

On the basis of all the judges’ findings, gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented at the Food Matters Live Event in November 2017 at Excel in London.

This year a new category has been added, Crème de la Crème, which is open to entrants who have won their categories in previous years.

Last year, nine fish and chip shops were awarded with accolades, more than any other category.

The closing date for entries is 31st July and there’s a 10% discount off the entry fee for shops that put themselves forward by 30th June.
